Figure Drawing 8: All Draw-gs Go to Heaven

I may not be able to beat this title. But that won't stop me from trying.

This session was a bit of a struggle. Sometimes you got it, sometimes you don't. Hopefully in the future they can just install something in your brain where you can just click it on and get in the zone. It would make life a lot easier.

Figure Drawing

I haven't been to a figure drawing class since 2007. I don't know why it took me so long to get my ass in gear. I wasn't even sure I was going to go today, but I'm glad I did. After two and a half hours of drawing I am having trouble lifting my arm...fuckin' out of shape man.

Started with quick gestures to warm up, then got into the longer poses. Props to the model. Don't know how she stood up there for so long. I sat the whole time and I feel like I need a nap.

Life Drawing Three

This one is hard to see in a bright room. I assure it is another apple, a red one this time. Sitting on top of my molskine again. All done in blue on black. I was sitting at my computer with the lights off and wanted to try and capture the low light version. The messy background of my desk has a bottle of water scraps of paper, some blister packaging from a push on/off dimmer switch I bought, a blending stump and one of those awesome space pens...which is black so....not the easiest to spot.

Life Drawing Two

A little healthier than the last drawing from life...if you ignore the fact that I am allergic to apples. Which I did because I ate this one as soon as I finished drawing. Maybe one of these days I will learn not to eat things that can kill me. Right after I get some fugu...

Thats my current moleskine notebook under there. I cut up the cover with an exacto knife and drew on it with a sharpie. Way cheaper than laser etching, but not as cool since it involves no lasers.

Intuos 4 and PS CS3. One hour

Life Drawing One

I was recently inspired by digital artist Dave Rapoza to stop being worthless. I have decided to push through my laziness and actually improve my art. That means at least one hour of study every day before I start design work or personal illustrations. This blog is where I will post my studies in the hopes that if I start to slack off I can look here and get my ass in gear and post stuff. With that said, here is my first drawing from life. One hour with my Intuos 4 and Photoshop CS3
